Mental health challenges continue to pose a significant burden globally, with disproportionate impacts in Africa. Despite growing awareness, many interventions remain poorly aligned with the lived realities, cultural contexts, and needs of target populations. Traditional top-down approaches often limit effectiveness, sustainability, and community ownership. Every community is unique, and so are its mental health promotion needs. But how do you identify which mental health education programs, practices, and strategies that will work for your community?

The aim of this webinar is to introduce participants to the principles, methods, and practical applications of co-design (or participatory design) — a promising approach to developing feasible, contextually relevant, and impactful mental health interventions. The session explores the knowledge and skills necessary to collaboratively design interventions that are responsive to the mental health needs and priorities of specific populations.
